After a lot of research, questions, and studying to determine which breed of Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD) was the right breed for us, we decided on the Great Pyrenees. A decision we are very happy with. Our dogs have proven themselves as successful guardian dogs and friendly family members as well.
Our dogs live with the goat herd... but they are also very socialized with people. They are friendly and easy to work with. They are also a deterrent for predators and stray dogs. Our dogs have a "No Tolerance Policy" for coyotes, stray domestic dogs, raccoons, skunks, possums, snakes (including the rattling kind) hawks, eagles or buzzards (which do circle over new borns on occasion). But they watch wild bunnies hoping around the pasture and sleep with the kittens.
They have also proven themselves as excellent companions for our young grand children, who love the great big dogs that tower over them.
Bearin Yon Blizzard
Bear has not only produced us great pups... Bear has proven himself to be a fantastic Guardian Dog as well. Bear is a very large boy... big boned and gorgeous... his pups are no different. Pups have been sold as LGD's, family pets and show dogs. You just can't go wrong with a pup sired by Bear.
We are always willing to answer questions about this incredible breed of dog. Feel free to contact us any time.
