What a difference a day makes.    July 25, 2009    after 5:00pm
With lots of help from friends and family clean up was really quit fast.
The trees are off the house and the front yard is cleaned up.  The only damage to the back yard was branches scattered all over.
My pickup is still right were it was last night.  We've just cleaned up around it.
Cleaning up the road, will be a challenge all it's own.  Finding equipment large enough may be easier said than done.

Will Frerichs climbing on the trees in the road.  Will stand" approx 5'4".
Thank you again to my sons and their families, the Frerichs family (who not only helped, but showed up with hamburgers to feed the crew... above and beyond the call)  Kevin Ross, Hugh Houchin and the Eirich Bros. - Randy and Roger.
The power poles need to be reset, and one has to be replaced... that should all take place first of the week.
Monday July 27, 2009

The power company was in here again today.  The poles have been reset, and one here at the house has been replaced.  The power has now been fully restored.

Today, Mark and I just continued cleaning up the back yard and working around the house.   The work to begin restoring barns and corrals, will begin tomorrow.

Tuesday July 28, 2009

Our eldest son, Seth and a close friend of his from Church, Mike Becker,  were here.  They spent the better part of the day cutting up the tops of the cottonwood trees that are laying on the pasture fence and getting them off the fence line.  With that complete they then pulled the field fence back up and temporarily secured it.   We have a few fence posts to replace and probably need to re-stretch the fence.  Plus all the branches etc... will have to be moved once the road is open.  Thank you Seth and Mike for all your efforts.

Saturday   August 1, 2009

Mark and I have worked all day to clean up the corrals around the barns and sheds.  There is not much more we can do until the trees are removed from the road.

Thursday August 6, 2009

As of today we are still waiting for the trees to be removed from the road.   It's been 13 days today... and the trees still lay there.  But it is beginning to sound as if something is about to start happening.  That would be awesome as we're waiting to have access to the lower pasture.

Repairs to the house and tearing down of damaged buildings and the start of new buildings should begin soon!

Woo HOO!  The road is being cleared!  Due to a joint effort of Morrill County, the Eirich's and a third party that I don't know... the road is being cleared today.  Sad to see those massive old trees, cut up and hauled away to a burn pile.   But it's sure nice to have some of the mess cleaned up!
